We are offering some of my signature "Talisman Beads", which some folks like to call "Barnacle Beads", and some of Thom's shard beads. The beads are organized into groups of beads that are alike. That is there is a group for "Talismans", a group for lentils, etcetera. As we further develop our website we hope to provide buttons that will jump to each group. I was honored to have three of my Talisman Beads selected for publication in Lark Books, "1000 Glass Beads". My beads are also displayed in the Glass Gallery on Corbin Freeman's DVD, "Essential Beadmaking - Techniques for Soft and Boro Glass." Click on any of the images for a close-up view. Talisman Beads by Mona

"During the process of making these beads, I focus on a single word affirmation while I'm making the bead. I make a small core and then write the word I'm focusing on with a stringer on the base. This is then covered by more base color and the rest of the bead is created with precious metal leaf and/or fuming, encased and finally decorated with the barnacles. I believe that the person who wants the bead is getting the right affirmation for them."

"My shard bead making started with a class by Micheal Barley in March of 2005. Since then nearly all of my work has involve shards in one form or another. These lentils are some of my most recent work, and involve the use of glass colors that react with each other, or react to a modified gas mix."
